Grapes

Grape vines are a popular item for home gardeners and commercial growers. They are an attractive plant and produce tons of fruit in a minimal amount of space, due to their ability to be trained up arbors and around fences.

Plant grape vines in early spring or winter in full sun and facing south, if possible. When planting, we recommend pruning back top growth to two or three buds. Grapes prefer a light soil with good drainage and moderate to high fertility. We recommend applying a balanced fertilizer every spring. Space each grape plant about eight feet apart, for best performance.
